Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!

Piggly-Wiggly grocer/bagger Rosalee Futch (Kate Bosworth) wins a contest to go out on one date with the famous actor Tad Hamilton (Josh Duhamel). She goes to LA for the date where Tad falls in love with her. How that’s possible is anyone’s guess. Granted Rosalee looks pretty hot in her outfit, but she acts like a ditz the entire time, and let’s face it: Tad can get any woman he wants. Anyway, Hamilton is so smitten with her that he goes to her hometown to show her that she’s the positive force that he needs in his life. But wait! Rosalee’s friend and boss, Pete (Topher Grace), is also in love with the ever so pretty Rosalee. He tries to show Rosalee that Tad is only after one thing - Rosalees carnal treasure.

The dialogue at some points is pretty lame. Take for example this conversation between Pete and Rosalee as she’s about to go to LA for her date with Tad:
Pete: “Just be careful”
Rosalee: “What do you mean?”
Pete: “I mean that this guy is Tad Hamilton. In his life he’s probably slept with like 15-20 women”
Rosalee: “No way! That’s not even physically possible.”
OK first of all, I’m sure someone like Tad Hamilton would have slept with a lot more than 20 people. But alright, that’s not a big deal. But what’s up with the ditzy remark from Rosalee about it being physically impossible. I understand they’re small-town folk, but they aren’t mentally challenged.

Anyway, even though this film follows a standard formula and the dialogue can be pretty silly at times, I would recommend it if you’re a guy in a bind and need a movie to watch with your date or if you’re into really cheesy movies.

* * * Possible Spoiler Below * * *

I just wanted to add that I think the movie would have been better if Pete ended up with Angelica and then when Rosalee realized that Pete was the one for her, instead of Tad, that it would have been too late for her to get together with Pete.

Score

Excellence in Cinema 2.0
Unoriginal script, sub par acting, decent cinematography - but with a movie like this you don't really care.
Entertainment Value 4.0
If you have to see a chick flick it could be worse, though it could be better.
Recommended Viewing 4.0
Wait for it to come to TV, and if nothing better is on then feel free to indulge.
OVERALL SCORE (NOT AVG) 4.0
You sort-of get what you are pay for: romantic comedy. Nothing exceptional to report in it's genre, and it isn't even very funny.
